Memorials Services is usually the term used to describe a funeral which is a religious services that is held with the body of the deceased or even without it.  These services may differ from one religion to another. The Eastern Church, there are many kind of prayers for the departed that have purposes. To mention some of these purposes, we have comforting of the living, payers for the repose of the faithful departed, to remind people of their mortality, and the brevity of this earthly life. They also differ from the four fasting season which are the Great Lent, Nativity Fast, Apostles’ Fast and the Dormition Fast.

Other then the religion, memorial services may also differ in terms of size or occasion. An example of this would be the war memorials where people would gather to hold memorials services for those who have passed away during wars.

Generally, memorial services have a gloom and sad feeling about them since they are held for those whom have passed away. But even if this is the case, many people try to change the mood. They do this by singing songs, saying poems for the departed, speeches, and other many other ways to make the people present during the service feel better.
